Hey Anju you are good with the grammer. Dhruv i guess et and est has same prounciation except the fact you utilise et as 'and' and est means 'is' .....its a conjugation of verb etre. But when you say qui est -ce? means who is this then its like ki es..You don't say ki et se..who is this?
OR c'est qui? se ki in hindi. 
May be Alicia would clarify better. |

I was just tossing with an idea, and thought to see what you guys think on that ...
in this discussion we are having 4 kinds of things ..
1. General discussion
2. French words that we are learning (word + sentence)
3. Hindi translations of that (word + sentence)
4. English translation of that (word + sentence)
I was wondering how it would be if we go for 4 different colors, like all the discussions in black, and three different colors for the three different translations ... that could be visually more clear
Say for example -
Question - Prashna - Question
Puis-je vous poser une question? (more formal) / Je peux vous poser une question? (less formal)
Keya mein aapse ek prashna puch sakta / sakti hoon? / Keya hum aapse ek sawaal kar sakté hein? (not sure, but sawaal is probably urdu)
Can I ask you a question?

Anju, the difference between é and è is that the later is shorter while we pronounce them. Thus, é is more like bay while è is more like cat. There is a third one ê which is probably still shorter. As in fenêtre (Khidki / Window). è and ê are very close and its hard to differentiate (for me).
Native speakers like Alicia are requested to correct and explain this in case I'm not correct.

3)Aimer- to love- pyar karna/Pasand karna
J'aime le chocolat.
I love chocolate.
mujhe chocolate pasand hai.
4)Adore- to like- pasand
Of course if i'm helping all of you i'll learn myself. Most of the time when we are helping others we are helping ourselves too.....
And its true that my english is really bad, lolzzzzz. But i manage with it as i can....
As you know, we, french often are very very weak in this language. Well.....Time after time......

l adore/like the songs of Jean Jaque goldman et Jaque brel.

chanter : gana gana : sing
demander : mangna : ask
écrire : likna : : write
To learn verbs its very important because its giving to the sentences the action.
So now with this three verbs try to make three sentences.... |

Also i do not know how to use the accents like aigule,grave and others with this key board...although i have understanding about how to use them....but thanks to update for others....

I think it means But unfortunately...but can you please tell me what is But and what is UNfortunately in french
Also whats pour?...
how do we say Sing and song seperately...i guess CHANTE is sing...than whats song? |

Yes ,you are correct. mais means but...and malheureusement means unfortunately....heureusement means fortunately.....
H in french is a semi vowel so we pronounce the word as erusement orally.
Dhurv to learn french sometimes one needs to stick with the way French phrases are ...sometimes translation doesn't help..but here with basics i guess its ok... |

chanter is verb which means to sing.
chansons means songs.
Je chante means i sing....Je chante une chanson. I sing a song.
pour means for.....
Alicia would correct me if am wrong somewhere. |
