Well guys

Like all forums, I was thinking to add rankings to this forum as well. For the uninitiateds, ranking is a title that appears along with your username, in your posts and in your profile.

A ranking system traditionally is linked to number of posts of a given member. I was thinking in this line -

Brahmin > 5000
Khsatriya > 1000
Vaishya > 500
Shudra > 100
Dalit > 10
Nav jatak <= 10

I understand that giving caste names to ranks could be shocking to some people, but I thought this could be funny.

But I will take people's view here.

Propose me if you have some better idea, linked to number of posts, where our ranks gradually move up with number of posts.

Personally I would like to have some "Indian" themes for the rankings (that's why I thought of the Varna system), but like always, will be open to and will appreciate your ideas ... Smile

NO!!! :shock:
Don't. You will be misinterpreted, misunderstood, and all sorts of mis---ed.
Things are not good back here dear, due to the politicians-- we are still being divided and ruled. These issues are the easiest to use while fooling and ruling people, in order to divert attention from governance, progress and development of the country.
Things have worsened in the past decade, due to all these chip-on-shoulder parties cropping up, and all these Hindu-Hindu parties.
So why use something that may antagonize some classes...
May be we can come up with a non-controversial nomenclature...
What about sanskrit words for diamond, gold, silver and iron?
or the famous gems- literal gemstones, I mean?
I will try to think of more..
But do tell me what do u think?

Thanks Parul. Yes, I understand. Another reason I thought to take the varna system was to show that the varna system is flexible, and is linked to his work, as it used to be in the past, probably. And this could be funny as well.

However, I do agree that the present situation is not that good, and the present definition of "caste" is anything but positive, and can easily be mistaken.

So your proposition is - Hirak, Swarna, Rwopya, Louha, right? I didn't understand the story of gems- literal gemstones though.

The idea would be to show, by those ranks, the level of dedication of a given member. More a user is dedicated, higher is his rank (that's natural as well, I feel).

Of course I am open, and I need suggestions, hence I posted this. I want to get the best possible solution, and that's only possible when a few people think simultaneously. Smile

Yes, right. Hope you didnt mind. Things are distorted nowadays... many of the original meaning of things and the "sense" have been forgotten.
Anyway, I meant in addition to the 4, if u want more names, a few names of the gems can be chosen
* Ruby (Manikyam )
* Pearl (Mukta)
* Emerald (Panna)
* Sapphire (neelam)
You have to decide the hierarchy of course.

nehi bhai ... seems no one else is interested to suggest something here Laughing Laughing Laughing

Probably we can make something mixing yours and Anju's ...

Like Hirak - Raja

etc. I'm not sure to add hati and uth, as having an animal name may offend some people ...

so we could, say, go with something like -

Raja - Hirak > 5000
Mantri - Swarn > 1000
Senapati - Panna > 500
Sena - Mukta > 100
Praja - Sisa > 10
Nav jatak <= 10

or,

HirakRaja
SwarnMantri
PannaPati
MuktaSena
SisaPraja
NavJatak

A thought ... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes what's your take ?

Hi Dhruv, that's a plan ... the memberlist will be developed and we will be able to see the photo and a few other details like rank once that page is developed.

In userlist, as it stands today, we can always try to guess someone's ranks, since that is related to one's number of posts, as discussed in the thread. Smile

For the moment, rank is seen in a user's profile and in someone's post Smile
