Hi Sourav,
I'm glad I found this website!! I must say this is so very helpful for people like me who have thousands of questions moving abroad. Good work!
This is first time i'm writing..
I'm going to get married to an Indian settled in France (He holds a French Nationality). He has posted all the reqd documents like the Birth Certificates with the red seal, passport copy, Proof of identification etc to the French Consulate in Pondicherry, India.
We are awaiting for the register marriage dates to be announced. Meanwhile I have heard that we have to communicate in French during the process for Visa etc and it is mandatory. Is this true???
I'm taking French lessons now, but its quite obvious that i'm not going to be fluent with the language in 45days.
Please help me.. Is there any way out??? |

HI I DONT THINK IT IS OBLGATEY TO SPEAK FRENCH. JUST INQUIRE ABOUT THAT IT IS SO SIMPLE TO CALL THE FRENCH COUNSLATE.
WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM HERE IN FRANCE BUT THE MAIRIE JUST ASKED TO COME WITH A APPROUVED TRANSLATOR. IT IS JUST FOR THE OFFICER WHO CONDUCTS THE MARRAIGES IS ASSURED THAT THE COUPLE HAS UNDERSTOOD WHAT EVER HE HAS SAID. THE APPROUVED TRANSLATOR HAS TO SIGN THERE THAT THE PERSON WHO DOESNT UNDERSTAND FRENCH HAS AGREED AND UNDERSTOOD THE OFFICER CONDUCTING THE MARRAIGE.
GOOD LUCK AND TOUS MES MEILLEURS VOEUX FOR UR MARRAIGE. |

Hi
IN FRANCE AS IN OME OTHER COUNTRIES THEY WANT THE NEW IMMIGRANTS MUST SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE AS PER INPAST IT WAS OFTEN THATEVEN AFTER DECADES OF RESIDENCE PEOPLE DID NOT LEARN THE LOCAL LANGUAGE. THEY JUST WANT THAT THE EW IMMIGRANT CAN ASSIMILATE EASILY HERE. BETTER LANGUAGE ONLY COMES AFTER A LOG PRACTCE. TRY TO SEE THEIR PROGRAM AS THEY CONDUT A TEST TO GIVE THE FINAL RESIDENCE PERMIT.
GOOD DAY |
