Hi all,
Hmmm ...
I was thinking about something that one of you already talked about ...
The cities threads ...
Hmmm ... There are a lot of Indians in Paris, right, but less in other big cities ... so why dont you gather all the big cities' names in one and only "forum" ? then, everybody will easily go and check the topics ...
see ya,
Cinthy
EDIT :
Hi all,

Well, this forum is still young ... but I can assure you that you can easily reach 5000 posts ... (lol I did it on RTT ...)
Thinking about that ... what about doing a "funny contest" ranking the members ?
something like baby IIF, teen IIF .... or junior IFF, senior IFF ... etc ?
or : "chotta IIF" ... (donno how to write small in hindi shame on me ...)
see ya,
Cinthy

if I may say so Paris is neither the only city in the country nor the "center of the universe", why should people from other places not have a direct access to the topic interesting them? I find the presentation much more pleasant and welcoming the way it is. I mean it's not a forum about Indians in Paris and ...others; it's Indians in France,na?

Well, here since we are trying to develop a forum for the whole Indian community who are based in France, if we do one for Paris and one for other cities, people of those cities might feel sort of excluded ... not getting the same importance what we are giving to people from Paris, that's what I thought.
It's true that having many cities will extend the forum vertically and then there are many cities that are not in the list. I was in fact thinking about a different work around here. That was to develop the group section. That way people from different cities can all have their city oriented forums, with some other plans that I have outlined here => http://www.indiansinfrance.com/forum/faq.php#15 We can also have other groups like Tamils of Paris or Bengalis of Paris, etc. Implementation of that will take a little time, but definitely this is in the to do list.

Great! You are one of the main pillars of that project.

Well, we do have something similar, a rank system depending on the number of posts => http://www.indiansinfrance.com/forum/faq.php#21

Hi all,
Sabine, I do agree with you by saying that Paris is not the only big city in France ! of course
Well, reflecting on what I said before, forget about my suggestion ... I must admit that it wasnt that great

I'm not sure the aim of being part of a forum is ...making posts....
Well, regarding your remark ... I think that there's a misunderstanding here
I only reacted to what bablubhai said I do know that the aim of being part of a forum is not making posts at all cost ! Of course and "thank god".

By that, I meant that it could add some "fun" to the forum ... well, its not a crucial point, not indispensable, but this little detail, from what I know ... can amuse some people ... and it would be something specific to IIF's forum.
errrrr...sorry if i appear like an old grumpy auntie
No, don't worry for that we are here in suggestions and you may not agree with some of mine its interesting to know what others can think about the suggestions that are made by other members, after all, we are all part of one and same family, the IIF's (well, it may seem odd for me to say that ... and I may seem as an intruder ... as I'm only a new comer here ... but its how I see things ...)
See ya lil' grumpauntie
and thanks for your remarks,
Cinthy |

Actually most often the ranks come along with their images, here images are absent, that may be the reason you didn't notice ... so see, there is another thing in the to do list ... to add rank images ...

if you're worried the list might grow too much, then why not have subforums following 'regions', you know, Indians in Alsace, Indians in Aquitaine.... in which we can open new topics as new members arrive? That would be good for geography knowledge and would enable newcomers to easily spot who's in their area. |

Good idea. But I've to learn the regions' name first for this ...
I've grouped cities that are not visited enough or missing a moderator under Indians in other cities forum, that makes the forum much less extended, vertically, for the moment. Let's see if there're other feedbacks on this.

Well said Sabine. Of course, a community start getting richer when members involved start to give their suggestions. On réussit toujours mieux ensemble. Together, we always achieve greater height.

Can you tell me what is your browser and it's version? I have checked in IE, FF and Safari and it's working in all 3. Here are the screenshots that I'm getting.
Firefox
Internet explorer
Safari
Still better, you can give me your screen shot. + the source code (source code you can get by right clicking on the page that opens, then by going to view source). When you will paste the code here, envelop them inside

One of our new members has just asked about the French lessons, so maybe it's time to set you all back to work.......
I suggested to Sourav we can maybe use the chat to make it more lively, starting from the basics (hello- introducing oneself..) then shifting to more elaborate dialogues, enacting situations you've all been confronted to like shopping, asking for direction....
But first, of course we need to know if there are enough valiant people around to give it a go.
What say? |
