Hi, I am Pranav. I am planning to move to University of Burgundy, Auxerre for my doctoral studies in Engineering. I would be staying here for about 1-2 yrs and would later move to Sweden. I would like to know the following things:
1. My wife (working as a Software engineer) and daughter (aged 1.5 yrs) would be accompanying me.
a. My salary would be 1450 euros/month(tax-free). Would this be sufficient for my family?
b. Can my wife seek employment there being a dependent?
c. Typically, how much does a childrens' creche charge per month or hour?
d. What could be the rent for a small house which is moderately furnished?
e. What would be the cost of living per month for a pure-vegetarian family?
Any references to web-sites would be helpful.
Thanks in advance. |

Hi Pranav,
I haven't so much idea regarding your university but if possible try to have some idea regarding housing from them.
Here normally house rent is the biggest part of your monthly expense (around 30%). Beyond that, you may count around 500-1000 euros for all other expenses ( electricity, water, telecommunication, food, transportations.....). Very frankly, u can stay good in this amount but u will not have big room for extra saving.
Creche charges also depends upon ur earning but u should count atleast 2-5 euros per hour even in minimum case.
For other points, I haven't much idea but hope our others members may help.
Cheers
