Nandita Das honoured by the French Government

Nandita Das will be honoured with the high-status of ‘Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres’ by the French government for her valuable contribution to the world cinema.

Besides, the versatile Indian beauty also has the option to choose any French personality for the felicitation.

Nandita said, “And there’re so many people I want to get the award from. To me, Paris is like Kolkata, the cultural nerve-center of the country.”

Nandita is the second Bollywood celebrity after King Khan who has been honoured with the award at the beginning of the year.

Nandita has just finished the shooting of her first directorial venture ‘In Such Times,’ which revolves around the issues of everyday life.

She stated, “For the past year, I’ve been completely consumed by my film. I’m enjoying the whole process of creating a film.”

For now, the movie has been named ‘Such Times,’ but the search for a Hindi name is going on. The film is in conversational language with a mix of Hindi, English, Urdu etc. It features a very eminent ensemble cast with the likes of Naseeruddin Shah, Deepti Naval, Raghubir Yadav etc.

Nandita Das has acted in various films in different Indian languages that include Tamil and Malayalam.
