How can I add an image in my post

You can link an image from an external site using the [img] code. For example, the following -
Code:
[img]http://www.kigoobe.com/fr/soft.gif[/img]

will produce the following

Alternatively, you can upload an image to the server of www.indiansinfrance.com, in case the image is in your computer, or too big to add from another website (that may disturb the layout of this page).

To do this, click on the link UploadPic once you are in post / edit page

A window will open up now where you can browse your computer and upload images. Click on the button browse.

Once you have selected the file to be uploaded, you can either select a rotation (in case you want to rotate the display of your image) or / and then click on the send button as seen in the picture above.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To rotate an image means -
Say you have taken a photo like the following with your camera -
Now, while uploading your image, in the above picture, in the Rotation(right) field, click the second option - 90%. (By default, it is clicked to none). By doing so when you will proceed, you will get the rotated version of the same, means -
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You will get the following screen then. Say you wanted to upload the logo of Kolkata night riders from your computer.

Here you have two options.

1. Click on the link standard if you want to insert this image.
2. Click on the insert picture and upload another one if you want to insert this image and then want to upload another one just after.

Once you will click either of the two links, you will get something similar to this on your post box, at the bottom.
Code:
[img]http://www.kigoobe.com/fr/soft.gif[/img]

And you are done.

In case you want to link your image to some site, you may simply envelop that code with an [url] code. Like this -
Code:
[url=http://www.kigoobe.com]
[img]http://www.kigoobe.com/fr/soft.gif[/img][/url]

will produce this

Cheers.

How can I add an youtube video in my post

Note:
If you want to share your own video with us, you will have to upload that in a video sharing site first, we don't have our inhouse video uploading facility yet. For that, you can take help of some of world's leading video sharing website, like youtube, or daily motion.

Simple. Envelop the link with the [youtube] code. For example -
Code:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZJS-LnqmDU[/youtube]

will produce this (put everything in the same line) -

Link

Remember, in case you are taking the link from a non english you tube site, say from the french youtube, and see the link is like http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=XYZABC, replace the http://fr.youtube by http://www.youtube

How can I add a Google video in my post

Envelop the link with the [GVideo] code. For example -
Code:
[GVideo]
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8126754676802280767
[/GVideo]

will produce this (put everything in the same line) -

Link

How can I add other videos from other sites in my post

Envelop the link with the [video] code. Add with and height as desired. Please take care that the width should be no greater than 550 as that will disturb the forum layout. For example -
Code:
[video width=400 height=350]
http://uk.reuters.com/resources/flash/includevideo.swf?videoId=79709
[/video]

will produce this (put everything in the same line) -

How can I add a google map in my post

Envelop the address with the [gmap] code. For example -
Code:
[gmap]104,106 rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis Paris[/gmap]

will produce this (put everything in the same line) -

In case you don't see anything in place of the map, just a bluish screen, that will mean that the map software is not able to detect the address properly. Check the address again.

How can I crop an image for my profile picture

If you are having a full image of yours and want to crop just the facial part for your profile picture, here is what you can do. Having the facial part only for the profile picture is better, since we can see someone's face more clearly, in contrast to if someone uploads a full body image to the profile.

First, open MS Paint. For that, click in the following order Démarrer (start) => Tous les programmes => Accessoires => Paint. For the paint, here is the final icon.

You will then have the MS Paint screen open in front of you, which is like:

With your keyboard, do ctrl + o (first press on the ctrl key and then press the key written letter o.). A window will open where from you can select the image you want to upload. Double click to open. Now you are having a screen like this (of course with your own photo).

Then, click on the dotted square button, as shown by the pink flash.

You can now select the part of your image you want to crop. Simply click on the upper left corner and then drag the mouse (while the left mouse button is still pressed) towards right bottom to select your area. Leave the left button that you were pressing once you have selected an area. You are having something like this now.

Now right click on the selected area, and from the dialog box that will open, select copy.

Now again some keyboard work. Press on the ctrl key, and then press two keys one after another (ctrl key should always remain pressed during this operation). The keys are n and v. So basically you are doing ctrl + n and then ctrl + v. You have the following screen now. You have, by this operation, opened a new frame and pasted your selected zone there.

Then, do ctrl + s. A new window will open, where you can select an area to save your photo. Say you want to save this in the desktop (bureau). For that, click on the button as shown by the pink flash 1, then, type a name for your image in the place as shown by the pink flash 2, say you want to name it as profile-photo-for-indians-in-france and then save the photo by clicking on the save button as shown by the pink flash 3.

You are done. Go ahead to upload a profile picture if you haven't done yet or replace an existing one, if you desire so. You can do that by going to profile > edit profile.

Cheers.
