I understand, and respect the government of India’s one nationality policy. That, we can either be an Indian or a foreigner, but we can never be both. We can’t be Indian and French at the same time, since our government does not support the dual nationality for Indians.
Agreed. But what about children of mixed-couples? Why can’t they have a dual nationality? I think asking them to choose either of their parents nationality is cruel, and is similar to asking to choose one of their parents. They are after all, both. Children of an Indo-French couple are both Indian and French at the same time, ethnically, and culturally.
Are there any other mixed couples around? Will love to listen from you, what you think here. Personally, I feel it’s an injustice to our children; those are born from mixed couples, that they do not have the right to choose to be both at the same time.
| Note: |
| There is a wide spread rumor now a day that the government of India now accepts dual nationality. Just to clarify that doubt, we don't have any dual nationality yet. What we have, is an OCI card, that translates to Overseas citizenship of India and an OCI card holder is far to be a "true Indian" as far as rights are considered. |
I request to our honorable government to give the right of "true" dual nationality for children of mixed-marriages, where one of the parents hold an Indian passport. _________________ Request | Rules

Hi Saurav,
I have some friends in which one partner is french and other is indian. But there childrens are french with long duration visa for india. What they explained me that it is more logic to have french nationality because there are residing here in france.
But if I am not wrong, our govt is also working on doing this double nationality with france.
Cheers

Yes, here my kids have Indian passports. I hope the government is working on this, to allow at least our children to have double nationalities. _________________ Request | Rules
