hey everybody, im Abhinav and am about to begin the MSc Finance course from GGSB starting September. My query is a little different. On completion of my course i would like to return to India to work, not that im homesick or nostalgic but just that the conditions in India suit me better. Any of you know what chances do i stand once im back in india with this degree??? your opinion will be deeply appreciated...thanx.

I'm so glad to have found this forum! Its exactly what I needed! Have been going through the pages and have already gained so much! Thanks to all you guys!

My name is Nitin Dhemre and I am moving to Paris on 2 Sep for my MBA at HEC. I was hoping to get accomodation on campus, which is in Jouy-en-josas, but have recently found out that it might take a while, what with a waiting list and all that. I am now hoping to find acco once I get there. Can any of you suggest some cheap nice acco like a hotel or a homestay that I might be able to get for the first 2-3 weeks until I can find myself a more permanent pad which is conveneint for my school? Close to Jouy-en-josas or within reasonable commuting distance? I have absolutely no clue about Paris and am not good with the language, so am getting a bit apprehensive. If you guys can give me the email id or a phone no with a contact person's name, I'll be very grateful. Most of the stuff I'm finding online is in French and the people I have tried calling do not seem to understand English.

Also, I'll be very grateful if I could get any leads to finding more permanent housing. And of course, am really looking forward to meeting you guys and getting tips on life in Paris!

Any suggestions to find a good obstetrician in Paris for antenatal checkup. What is the first stop for pregnancy confirmation and checkup - obstetrician or 'sage femme' (that means a midwife?). Though i have many questions ranging from toxoplasmosis screening to CPAM coverage, let me ask them one by one.

As I never go through this procedure, I have not such precise information regarding dependent visa.

But For me, any person on dependent visa is not authorised to work. To have work rights, either you have to enter on employee visa or under procedure of 'regroupement familial'.

As a lot of our members have their family members here in france on dependent visa, I let them to give more precise information.

I will be moving to Champigny-sur-Marne 94500 by October this year with my wife and a 2-year old son for an assignment of approx. 3 years.

I wanted to know whether I should stay at Champigny or in Paris (say 22nd district) or anywhere else. Which are good residential locations in this area? I want to be close to my Work but also be in a locality where there are some Indias.

Can someone also guide me whether I should look for a furnished or an unfurnished accomodation ?

Any suggestions regarding International Schools in this area ?

Inter racial couples in general are very common and accepted in France. due to the relatively small percentage of indians living in france, compared to other ethnicities, there are few inter racial indian/ non indian couples.

But yes, they do exist, WE are out here. Well, I'm a Brit, living in france and my husband is Indian, soon to join me here in france!

Regarding salary, the figures i mentioned are gross and not net.

Further for knowledge of everyone, when you are discussing your salary with any employer in france, they always discussed about gross and not net so to have an idea regarding your net salary, just deduct around 20-23 % out of that.

can anyone of you point out a cheaper hair cut saloon in Grenoble. I had no option last time since i was new here and had to spend 22 euros for a hair cut which I believe is quite expensive. I know some in Lyon who charge 11 euros. Are there any in Grenoble which charge around 10 to 15 for a normal hair cut?

Ashwani .. the figures that you have mentioned are including taxes (social contribution, income taxt etc.) i.e., Gross salary and not Net .. Right

Hi Dear,

It depends how u come here. If you are coming as an expat, there will be no problem regarding children education. You can afford International school of paris very easily ( company pay their charges which are around 1000 euro per month ) and there , they are having even hindi classes as well.
Otherwise you can go to normal french schools and simultaneously get admission in english special classes ( cost you somewhere around 300-500 euros per year ). You can go also to some private english schools which will cost you in same range but may be far from residence.

Family accomodation also depends upon your job. If it is on expat basis or project basis, the company will take care. Otherwise count around 700-1400 euros for having 1-2 bedroom flats in paris area. More you will go far from paris, less rent you have to pay.

I am not electrical engineer but here the normal salary scale for a person with 7-8 yrs experience is 36000-54000 euros.

I invite other persons to share their knowledge on this point.

with your Carta XXX You can travel to any country in europe including swiss, You need a separate visa for UK.
